Mashed, Smashed, Boiled, or Fried....

We have some beautiful potatoes!!!  My husband planted potatoes and we dug them up.. First it was "let's see what this potatoe looks like peeking up out of the ground"...  OMG!  It was a huge one!  the next thing I knew Iwas digging them all up!  One potato, two potato, three potato, four!..

It is so rewarding to get something out of the garden that you grew!

When I picked these beauties.. it was so neat.. they were still warm from being in the soil.. I got dirt under my fingernails and dirt between my toes!!!

Life is good!!!

Now... What to make?

This sweet little candle holder my husband found for me while we were out visiting some flea markets

a little north of where we live.. it was our only treasure for that day.$3.00

These are my Staffordshire Dogs... Again a gift from my sweetheart..  He gave these to me for my

birthday, back in march.. He found them at an antique store on the way home from one of his jobs..

He kept them hidden from me for a month..  That was hard for hom to do.. since he can't wait to give me things.. I usually always get any gifts from him early.. because he can't wait !!!  But he did this time...

He handed me the bag with the dogs in them and said "I got you some staffordshire dogs.."  Before I

 could open it!"

I was thinking, oh! how sweet... looked at them and thought "these are pretty good knock offs,,"

Turned them over... and saw an inscription that read Staffordshire Engalnd..

Then I exclaimed!!!  These really are Staffordshire Dogs!!!

He said," I told you they were.!."    He was so proud of himself..! Sweet huh?

These are a couple of my plates that have my beloved roses on them.. I have a pretty good collection going now.. since we pick up some up, almost everytime we are out looking at flea markets..  We only get the bargains!!

The large one is probably my biggest splurge.. It is the size of a charger.. made in belgium.. it was a whopping $ 15.00  

needless to say I swooped that baby up!!!  I have seen plates similiar going for $ 65.00 and up..

I was so happy!

I get happy over stuff like that... I know it's silly!

The smaller one is another hubby find, on the way home from work one day..

I guess he really is sweet. huh?

I need to do something sweet for him..

These pretties are on my buffet..  The two plates are another thrifty find.. neither one of them were

over $5.00 

the sweet cherubs were from my mother.. She said that they remind her of us.. "that's you and me ", she said

She is so cute!

The teapot was a christmas gift from my husband a few years back.. I collect this china, so he gets me a new piece every once in a while.. This was part of the of it, I also got the sugar and creamer too!

I have over 20 dinner plates in this pattern.. Why so many you ask?  Well I have a huge family..!!!

When we have Christmas or Thanksgiving at my house it is nothing to have 20 to 30 people in my house..

I love it!!!

So whenever I see a piece on sale, I pick them up.. I have gotten most of my pieces from T.J. Maxx..

My favorite store!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Although my first set of 8 came from Belks from my husband and mother.. My mother bought my first 4 place settings and my husband bought the other 4 one year for christmas and 2 trays..  Its been a tradition now.. if there is a new tray or serving dish on display at christmas time, he gets

me a piece or two..

I know the lighting is bad in my photos.. sorry.. I know I keep saying that from post to post.. but I don't have a very good camera.. so sometimes my cell phone photos are better than my camera.. but still not very good.

These are on the other side of my buffet.. I put corsages in my apothacary jars for my mothers day display..

you really cant see them good in these , but they were pretty..

Well,   Doing this post really made me realize how thoughtful my husband really is of me... I have been feeling a little discouraged about our relationship lately,  I sort of feel a little ashamed that I have been taking HIM for granted a little,, He really is very thoughtful..  I know that material things are by far the least important things in my life.. My Faith, my family, my children, my grandson, my parents and siblings, grandmother, aunts and uncles cousins and friends are my most valuable and treasured gifts..  But I do appeciate pretties.. and while posting this I realized that the majority of them came from my husband or while the two of us were out, usually on a saturday spending the day together.. 

I also realize that I am fortunate that I have a husband that wants to spend time with me and is thinking of me often..

He really is so good to me..  He does so much more than that.. he helps me with the house, does laundry, cooks and alway keeps the yard immaculate!

wow!

Maybe he doesn't shower me with kisses, or doesn't whisper sweet nothings in my ear as often as I would like, but he expresses his love in other ways.. That is his love language..

I am very blessed in my life.. I have a beautiful family, a sweet little home that my husband works hard to provide for us..

Life is sweet and love is wonderful!

New Creation

Just wanted to show my new handbag..I have been carrying it for a few weeks now..Just haven't had time to post.. Making other goodies!

The Vintage part is the flower doilie.. A couple of years ago When My Hubby and I were camping in the northern part of state, we stopped into a  flea market when we were checking out the local scenery.. and scored on a big shopping bag full of doilies, napkins and placemats...

they were having a 1/2 off sale in this one booth.. the bag was marked $25.00..

I snatched up the bag and quickly went to the clerk and asked if is this was included in sale?  She said YES!!!!

The bag had over 35 doilies in it.. all vintage, hand crochet... Plus the most beautiful placemats..

I walked away with that sack, more like ran!  $12.50..

Anyway, I have been using those everywhere...some of the smaller ones are still sitting in the bag.. so I decided to put them to use.. On my purse.. I put a vintage button in middle and threaded it with Khaki colored grosgrain ribbon that I have been saving to recycle someday..

I love my bag.. I love the feel of the heavy linen..

Now I need to make a more springtime bag..

I have been in the sewing mood lately.. It hits me in spurts..I am starting my own little cottage industry.. Of course you can see what my label is ..

Fleas & Tiques

This is a lamp I found at a flea market about a month ago.. My hubby put up about 2 weeks ago.. It replaced a crystal chandelier... I moved chandy from kitchen to dining room..I like it better in there.. But I thought this light suited my kitchen eating area better..What do you think?

These are some sweet baby dresses and slip. I found last weekend.. I love them.. two dresses and a slip..

Making up for lost time!

I have been very busy the last few weeks and have ignored my blog.. so I thought I would show you what I have been up to.

I made a bag for my brother and his wife that are expecting their first child.. a girl..  her name is a combination of his name Brian and her name Leslie.. Cute huh?

New Furniture..

2 weeks ago my hubby and I drove to the Ikea in Frisco, Tx  which is right outside Dallas..
It is about 5 1/2 hours drive.  I finally got my new slipcovered furniture I have been wanting for so long..
Our budget could not afford a new a sofa from the PB or RA..  so I found a way to get what I wanted..
For the cost of one sofa from big name.. I was able to get one slipcovered sofa, two slipcovered chairs, and a chaise lounge.. We would have had it delivered but that would have cost as much as the sofa just for the sofa..since it had to come from warehouse in California..  My hubby opted to drive 5 1/2 hours to pick up ourselves... Never having shopped in Ikea.. made for an unexpected experience..The Ikea store had lots of goodies that I was dying to look at as we were passing them by walking to warehouse.. but we were on a mission!  We had to get in, get out!.. ( My hubby talking ).. I did get my furniture.. love it!  but need to go back someday to browse.. probably would take 1/2  a day or more.. I like to look at everything..

Just a touch of lace...

I found these sweeet hand embroidered pillowcases at a fleamarket

 and I added a little lace to bottom edges..... I think it's just what they needed..

I am sending them to my daughter Maddie..

 I have a few pairs of pretty embroidered pillowcases..She and her husband are

poor, young college students with a little baby.. So I decided to send them to her

to brighten her day..  Hope it works.. She loves pretty, lacy things like I do..

Hello!

It's been a while since I last posted.. sorry for that.  I have found myself very busy the last few weeks..

I spent last weekend visiting my daughter Lauren, who lives 3 1/2 hours drive from here.  I thoroughly enjoyed our visit.  She and her husband recently purchased there first home together .  We went shopping for things to fill it, FUN!  She already had picked out some lovely things..   We have different styles in decorating,  but she has very nice taste!!  She is decorating her kitchen in a Tuscan style.  We had fun picking out pottery and glassware to match her style.. She wanted a very authentic look, not too commercial..  her colors are sage green and golden yellow and rustic red.. it's coming together very nicely...

While I was there the weather forecast was calling for rain with a slight chance of snow dusting the area.. I thought "No biggie, it will be gone by sunday".. Well was I wrong!!!!.. It started raining and that turned to sleet.. that soon turned into snow.....  it snowed and snowed and snowed.. once it started, it didnt stop!! It was still snowing when I woke up on sunday morning!!! 12 whoppimg inches reported..  It was crazy!  I kept looking out the window thinking surely it has stopped... nope!! kept on a coming..!! Finally aroud 2pm sunday we decided to try and make it home.. roads were fine.. but looked scary!..

Anyway it was a pleasant visit with daughter and her husband.. The went out of there way to be the perfect host and hostess!!  Love you Lauren!!
P.S.

She even made me a cake to celebrate my birthday, which is not until this next monday..  so sweet!!!

Just got off the phone with my youngest daughter madeline..I
 love you Maddie!!!!! I hope you have a great afternoon, and remember that I love you!!!!

My daughter Madeline is one of those girls who if she puts her mind to it she can accomplish anything..( all of my children are like that)..  She is a young homemaker and mother,, I envy her in some ways, but I remember how challenging it was back in the day... when all my children were little.. and I was alot younger.. I wish I knew a few of the things back then that I know now..

She is a musician, she plays the Viola.. That is what she was trained in.. but has self taught herself piano..she can play the harp, mandoline, guitar,  I know I am forgetting something..
She also is an artist... she can draw and paint.. she is so talented!!!
Right now she has a little baby, he is 5 months old.. She has her hands full! He is precious and beautiful and such a blessing to our whole family!!  Maddie is such a good wife and mother.  She has so much more patience than I had  when I was raising her..

I guess the reason I am singing praises of her, Is that I am constantly amazed at how graceful, spiritual, beautiful, creative, talented she is!!  I believe there isn't anything she can't do!!!!!!!  All she has to do, is believe she can, or want too!!

She lives in Idaho right now and that is very far away from us!! I miss them all very much!! Maybe we can see each other soon!!

I am sending her my love, hugs and kisses!!!!  My arms are around you and your are always in my thoughts.. but most importantly, my  HEART!!!!!  As are all of my children!!

My daughter Lauren is the oldest.  She lives about 2 1/2 hours drive from us and she is also married and has 2 step children.. She is equally as talented and beautiful as you can see from the picture,, she is the one holding baby Jed.. her nephew.  I get to see her next weekend.. cant wait!!!

Tuesday again!

I can't believe it is tuesday already again..  It seems like my days just get away from me, before I know it!
American Idol comes on tonight again!!!  WOOO HOOOooo!!!  lol.. I get happy about the littlest things, sorry..

I don't have any pictures to post today..I am working on a few projects.. so maybe by the end of the week I will have something to show you!

We are in arkansas and we have been seeing the firsts peeks of springtime.. I am loving the weather.. 60's..
For the last two days I have worn short sleeves and sandals..  It has been so nice, and my toes haven't even gotten cold!

I came home from work and my husband had planted our rasberry, blueberry, and blackberry bushes..
I can't wait til they start producing..  I hope they will this year, but I am not sure if they do the first year planted.. they are 2 year old plants.. We will see..  I want to make jams and all sorts of goodies!! I recently learned how to make jams in the last few years and it is one of my favorite things to do now..  So easy!
But yet so rewarding!!!
Well, I guess I will go for now.. I want to check out what everybody else is up to on their blogs!!

Fleamarket Finds!!!

They match my juice glasses, another find, I think at a yard sale, years ago.
A cute little snack set that I am going to send to my daughter Maddie, it matches her dishes.
I got 12 bowls in all for $10.00

good bargain!

we were able to get a set of 5 for $5.95.....I love BARGAINS!!!

This past saturday, my hubby and I spent the day together. We started the day at the gym and then got cleaned up and went to Little Rock for lunch.. SUSHI!!! Yummy!!
We then got out our new G.P.S. gadget that my husband loves to play with, and we were off and running.. put a few addresses in.. (some were good and some not!! ) We thought we would try a few markets that we haven't been to. We came home with some goodies!!!

We had a great day!!!
